Lanworth: Estimates Remain Below USDA

Favorable conditions in September, especially in the Western Corn Belt, improved prospects for corn and soybean production, but the turn in the weather in October will have kept crops below the levels USDA has been forecasting, according to private analytical firm Lanworth Inc.

Searchinger, Ag Clashes Not New
Timothy Searchinger is perhaps best known for his controversial February 2008 paper that tried to quantify international indirect land-use changes as they relate to ethanol, but his work for the Environmental Defense Fund for several years before that often put him at odds with U.S. agriculture.
